Farm Frites declares to take action towards climate change

On the 12th of December, Gijs Muilenburg, on behalf of Farm Frites, signed the Science Based Targets Call to Action Commitment Letter.

Science Based Targets initiative is a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), World Resources Institute (WRI), the World Wide Fund for Nature and of the We Mean Business Coalition commitments.

The Science Based Target initiative’s overall aim is that science-based target setting will become standard business practice and corporations will play a major role in driving down global greenhouse gas emissions.

By signing the letter, Farm Frites wishes to join the growing group of leading companies that are setting emissions reduction targets in line with what climate science says is necessary, i.e. maximum 2 degrees global warming.

On the Science Based Targets Initiative’s webpage (sciencebasedtargets.org) there is a list of 754 companies (on the 20th of December) which either have set up emissions reduction targets or have committed to do it within 24 months. Farm Frites is on the list amongst companies like Coca-Cola, Colgate Palmolive, Danone, Dell, KelloggMetroMcDonald’s.

In our sector of Food and Beverage Processing there are 66 companies with targets or commitment and Farm Frites is the only potato product manufacturer.

By committing to setting a science-based target, Farm Frites shows its continued leadership on sustainability. We will keep you posted on the developments and the actual reduction targets in the months to come.
